the bodhisattva shown standing in front of an elaborate openwork mandorla of foliate scrolls, with hair piled into a high topknot behind a diadem centered with a seated figure of Amitabha Buddha in a petal-shaped panel, the bodhisattva’s right hand loosely clenched and held up to the chest, holding a small oblong plaque in the left hand, wearing layered robes with deep sleeves and draped with long scarves hanging down at either side of the bare feet resting on a plain disc-shaped platform set into an almost spherical lotus-bud applied with four rows of overlapping pointed petals, above a hexafoil bracket-lobed support with openwork center resting on six ruyi-shaped legs raised on a stepped triple-tiered base also of hexafoil bracket-lobed form ending in six corner-angle petal-shaped legs, showing extensive remains of gilt lacquer widely scattered over the surface, the exposed bronze with lightly encrusted bright malachite-green patination.
