Southern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1127-1279)
with well-potted thick flaring sides rising from a small circular foot to a wide mouth, encircled by a shallow ‘finger-groove’ around the exterior of the lipped rim, covered inside and out with a lustrous dark brown glaze liberally splashed with a translucent amber-colored glaze, giving the effect of tortoiseshell, the low ring foot and flat base unglazed, showing the pale buff pottery.
