Late Eastern Zhou-Han Dynasty, circa 3rd Century B.C.

the dark green jade disc with wide central aperture, carved on both sides with ‘sprouting grain’ comma spirals incised on low rounded bosses tightly packed in an allover pattern between simple line borders, the stone of even color, showing some cloudy tan alteration on one side due to long burial.

Diameter 7 1516 inches (20 cm)

Compare the large jade bi unearthed in 1965 from tomb no. 2 at Wangshan, Jiangling county, Hubei province, now in the collection of the Hubei Provincial Museum, illustrated in Zhongguo yuqi quanji (Compendium of Chinese Jades), Vol. 3, Shijiazhuang, 1993, p. 167, no. 261, described as late Warring States period.
