A NEOLITHIC JADE CEREMONIAL BLADE (CHAN)

Longshan or Dawenkou Culture, circa 3000-2000 B.C.

of oblong shape, the sides widening very slightly toward the straight cutting edge beveled on both sides, drilled with a neat circular aperture centered near the blunt end, the pale grayish-olive stone with swirling darker cloudy markings, the surface softly polished.
